NowAntiques was founded in 1731, making it one of the oldest auction houses in the world. Auctions have a long and rich tradition in Stockholm, with the first auction in Sweden mentioned in written sources held in 1639 by the Academic Consortium in Stockholm.

Since 1996, Knut Knutson, well-known from SVT’s TV program Antikrundan, has been the principal owner of NowAntiques. Since then, the company has grown into one of the largest auction houses in the Nordics, with offices and showrooms in Gothenburg and Malmö, as well as a headquarters and major exhibition spaces in Stockholm.
